Membership

Membership is open to, and binding on, all permanent teaching and non-teaching staff of Fettehman Senior High School. Non-permanent staff are not considered members under the Constitution.

Article 2

Membership ceases when a person is no longer a permanent staff member of Fettehman Senior High School.

Article 2

Members must declare the relevant dependants and personal information requested on the membership form, including spouse, children, parents, next of kin and hometown details.

Article 15

Contributions and payments

The Constitution establishes monthly dues and provides for an increase of GHS 2.00 at the beginning of each academic year. Members should check the portal or current approved notice for the applicable rate.

Article 7

By the 15th day of the current month, members should have completed payment for the previous month. A delayed payment of up to two months may attract a penalty equal to 50% of the monthly contribution.

It is a special collection for marriage, death and pension cases. The Constitution states GHS 50.00 per member, subject to change. Of the total collected, 80% goes to the beneficiary and 20% to the Association.

Article 11, Section F

Benefits and claims

A member generally qualifies after six months with the Association and must be fully paid up in dues and special collections. Any arrears may be deducted from the benefit before payment.

Article 12

The Constitution provides for benefits relating to:

  • Death of a member, parent, child or spouse
  • Marriage ceremonies
  • Childbirth
  • Hospitalisation
  • Pension, transfer, termination or resignation

  • Death of a member: GHS 1,000.00
  • Death of a parent, child or spouse: GHS 500.00
  • Marriage: GHS 200.00 for one contributor or GHS 400.00 where both partners contribute
  • Childbirth: GHS 200.00 for one contributor or GHS 400.00 where both parents contribute
  • Hospitalisation: GHS 200.00

These constitutional figures remain subject to duly approved amendments.

Article 11, Sections A-D
  • Less than one year and has already benefited: no exit benefit.
  • Less than one year and has not benefited: GHS 200.00.
  • One year or more: 70% of the member's total dues contribution.
Article 11, Section E

A claim should be submitted through the Chairperson. Supporting documents, such as an invitation letter or card, should be attached where available. Members may also use the welfare portal where the relevant online claim service is available.

Article 13

Loans and investments

  • Maximum amount is generally twice the member's total contribution, subject to available funds and approved changes.
  • Interest is 4% per month.
  • Maximum repayment period is six months.
  • Two fully paid-up member guarantors are required.

Default may attract 6% interest per month.

Article 10

It is an emergency loan facility. The Constitution states a maximum of GHS 500.00, subject to change. Interest is 5% per month, but repayment within the month attracts no interest. Evidence of the emergency and two fully paid-up guarantors are required.

A three-member Fund Management Committee nominated by the general membership manages investments and reports to members once every term. Investment portfolios require member discussion and approval before implementation.

Governance and administration

The Committee comprises the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Organiser and two ex-officio members: the Headmistress/Headmaster and the School Bursar.

Article 3

There should be one general meeting every term. Executive members meet once every term before the general meeting, and emergency meetings may be convened when necessary.

Article 4

An executive term is two years. A re-elected executive may serve two consecutive terms. Vacancies created before the end of a term should be filled through a bye-election within 21 working days.

Article 5

Withdrawals and expenditure must be discussed and approved by the Executive Committee. The Chairperson is the principal signatory, together with the Financial Secretary and Treasurer; the Chairperson and either of the other signatories may authorise a withdrawal.

Article 9

Two-thirds of members present form a quorum for legitimate business, except at emergency meetings. Decisions are by simple majority; where votes are tied, the Chairperson has a casting vote.

Article 14

A member may submit a written amendment request to the executives. Amendments are considered at a general meeting and require approval by two-thirds of members present. A five-member review committee may be nominated, with its recommendations presented to the general membership before implementation.
